Now named Prempeh I International, Kumasi was declared an international airport in 2003 with a full complement of security, customs and immigration staff, primarily for regional operations. It is operated by Ghana Airports Company, and a second-phase terminal for 800,000 passengers a year is under way. No ground handler or general-aviation facility is published.
